Apr 02, 2026
Refer to this easy step-by-step guide from Monkey Pen that helps you learn how to draw a beetle.
Step 1: Draw almost an egg shape but with a slightly flat base. This is a beetle's head.

Step 2: Add two antennae, one on the right and the other on the left.

Step 3: Create its body with a big, curved line extending below on the right side.

Step 4: Complete the right-side body using another gentle curved line that goes up. This looks like an oval.

Step 5: Create another oval for the left side body using a big curve just like the right one.

Step 6: Similarly, complete the left side of the body too. (Refer to step 4)

Step 7: Between the two ovals, add a vertical line followed by a half-moon shape below. Both ends of the half-moon shape touch the ovals that lie near them, respectively.

Step 8: Within the half-moon outline, include two more half-moon shapes, one small, and the other still smaller than the previous one.

Step 9: Add small ovals within the right and left side bodies.

Step 10: Give front legs, facing up, on either side that resemble a chain of hooks connected.

Step 11: Include middle legs facing sides.

Step 12: Then draw hind legs that look down.

Step 13: Now add its eyes and mouth using small circles and a tiny curve below that lies at the centre.

Step 14: Darken the eyes, leaving the top corners and a tiny circle-sized space.

Step 15: A smiling beetle drawing is completed.
