LILY THE BIRD AND THE BROKEN WING | Free Children Book

Lily loves the open sky, where she can flap, twirl, and sing in the morning light. But when a sudden gust of wind changes her day, she finds herself far from the clouds and close to a quiet little worry. A tender story for young readers, inviting them to discover how friendship can bring comfort when wings need time to heal.

One bright morning, a little bird named Lily was flying in the sky.

Flap… flap… flap…

She twirled… she dipped…

and sang a happy song.

“Chirp! Chirp! What a lovely day!”

Suddenly—

whoosh!

A strong wind blew.

“Oh!” said Lily.

She lost her balance and slipped.

Flap! Flap!

She fell gently onto the soft grass.

“Ouch…” Lily said.

She tried to flap her wing.

Flap… but it hurt.

“I can’t fly,” she said softly.

Lily sat quietly under a tree.

She felt a little scared…

and a little sad.

Just then, her friend Robin flew down.

“Lily! Are you okay?” he asked.

“My wing hurts,” Lily said.

Soon, more friends came.

A sparrow… a myna… a tiny finch.

“We are here,” they chirped.

They sat close to Lily.

One bird brought her seeds.

Another brought a drop of water.

They sang soft songs to her.

Chirp… chirp… chirp…

Lily smiled a little.

“I feel better with you,” she said.

Day by day, Lily rested.

Her friends stayed near her.

They talked…

They sang…

They kept her company.

Slowly… slowly…

Her wing felt stronger.

One day, Lily stood up.

She flapped her wings.

Flap… flap…

No pain!

She took a small jump—

and lifted into the air!

“I’m flying!” she chirped happily.

Her friends flew beside her.

Up… up… up…

Lily smiled wide.

“Thank you, my friends,” she said.

Moral: Caring friends help us feel better and strong again.
