The evening sky glowed with soft shades of orange, pink, and purple. A peaceful pond rested in the middle of a green meadow. Tall reeds swayed in the gentle breeze.
Near the pond lived a tiny honeybee named Buzzy.
Buzzy was cheerful, playful, and curios. He loved flying from flower to flower, smelling sweet blossoms, and watching butterflies flutter by.

Every evening, Mother Bee reminded Buzzy to return before dark and avoid the lotus flowers after sunset.
“Why, Mama?” he asked.
“The petals close at night. You could be trapped until morning.”
“I’m a fast flyer. I’ll be fine!” Buzzy said proudly.
Mother Bee smiled. “Being fast is wonderful, but listening is wiser.”
Buzzy hugged her and buzzed towards the pond.

Buzzy spent the day visiting flowers, chasing butterflies, watching fish splash, and laughing at a leaping frog.
Then a blue dragonfly called, “Race me!”
They zoomed around the pond until they were tired and giggling.
“What a wonderful day!” said Buzzy.

As sunset approached, Mother Bee hoped Buzzy was coming home.
But Buzzy was still exploring when he spotted a huge pink lotus sparkling with water drops.
“It’s beautiful!” he whispered.
Then he remembered Mother Bee’s warning:
“Lotus flowers close at night.”

He looked at the sky.
“There’s still a little daylight,” he thought. “I’ll only stay for one minute.”
Curious, he flew inside.

The flower smelled sweet, its petals were soft and smooth, and golden pollen sparkled in the centre.
“This is the cosiest place ever,” Buzzy yawned.
He rested for just a moment.

Slowly, the sun disappeared behind the hills.
The sky turned purple, and the first stars appeared.
The lotus stretched gently after its long day.
Very slowly…
Its petals began to close.
Buzzy looked up.
“Oh!”
He rushed toward the opening.
“Wait! Wait!”

He buzzed as fast as he could, but the petals closed before he could escape.
It became dark.
Very dark.
“I’m trapped!” cried Buzzy.
He pushed against the petals again and again, but they would not move.

At last, he sat quietly.
“I should have listened to Mama,” he whispered sadly.

Outside, Mother Bee searched everywhere.
She looked among the daisies, around the water lilies, and over the lotus flowers also.
“Buzzy!” she called.
There was no answer.
Then, very faintly, she heard a tiny voice.
“Mama…”

She listened carefully.
The voice was coming from the large lotus flower.
“Oh, Buzzy!” she cried. “You’re inside!”
Mother Bee gently landed on the closed flower.

“Dear Lotus Flower,” she said kindly, “my little Buzzy is trapped inside. He made a mistake, but he has learned his lesson. Could you please open your petals just a little?”
The lotus answered in a calm, sleepy voice.
“I close every evening to rest until morning.”
It was silent for a moment.

Then it said, “A mother’s love is gentle and true. For that love, I will help.”
Very slowly, the petals opened.
A thin ray of moonlight slipped inside.
Buzzy saw the opening and quickly buzzed out.
Straight into his mother’s warm hug.

“I’m so glad you’re safe,” Mother Bee whispered.
“I’m sorry, Mama,” Buzzy said, wiping away his tears. “You warned me, but I thought I knew better.”
Mother Bee smiled gently.
“Everyone makes mistakes. The important thing is learning from them.”
Buzzy nodded.

“I understand now. You tell me these things because you love me and want to keep me safe.”
“That’s right,” Mother Bee said. “I don’t make rules to stop your adventures. I make them to protect you.”

They both thanked the kind lotus for helping them.
The moon shone brightly over the peaceful pond. Tiny fireflies twinkled like little stars, and the frogs sang their nighttime songs.

Mother Bee and Buzzy flew home together.
From that day on, whenever the sky began to turn golden, Buzzy would smile and say,
“It’s time to go home!”
He still loved exploring the wonderful world around him, but he never forgot the lesson he had learned.
