Near a quiet little pond lived a cheerful duckling named Daisy.
Daisy had soft yellow feathers, a tiny orange beak, and little orange feet that went...
Waddle... Waddle... Waddle...
Daisy loved swimming with Mama Duck, chasing dragonflies, and making tiny splashes in the water.
Every day was full of fun.
One sunny morning, Daisy was playing by the pond.
She flapped her little wings.
Flap... Flap...
She twirled around happily.
Round and round she went.
Suddenly...
A tiny yellow feather floated gently to the ground.
Daisy looked at it.
Then she looked at her wing.
"My feather!" she gasped.
"It's gone!"
Daisy's eyes filled with tears.
"Will I always have a hole in my wing?" she asked sadly.
Mama Duck came over with a gentle smile.
She gave Daisy a warm cuddle.
"Oh, Daisy," she said softly.
"Little ducklings lose feathers as they grow."
"They do?" asked Daisy.
Mama nodded.
"And guess what?"
"A new feather will grow back very soon."
Daisy smiled.
"So I'm growing bigger?"
"You certainly are," smiled Mama.
Every day, Daisy looked at her little wing.
She hoped to see a new feather.
But nothing had grown yet.
One bright morning, Daisy looked again.
"Oh!"
A tiny new feather was peeking out.
"It's growing!" Daisy cheered.
Day by day, the little feather grew longer and softer.
Soon, Daisy's wing looked just the same as before.
Daisy flapped her wings.
Flap... Flap...
She twirled around the pond once more.
"I have my feather back!" she laughed.
Mama Duck smiled proudly.
"And now you're a little bigger too."
Daisy looked at the tiny feather she had lost.
She smiled.
Growing wasn't something to worry about.
It was something to celebrate.

Daisy skipped off to splash, swim, and play by the pond once again.
