How to Draw Autumn Scenery - Simple Fall Landscape Sketches for Children

This autumn scenery drawing lesson walks you through a full seasonal landscape, where falling leaves, cozy trees, and warm outdoor details slowly come together on the page. Each step is broken down into clear visual stages, so even beginners can follow along without feeling overwhelmed as the scene gradually builds in depth and atmosphere. Alongside the guided drawing images, you also get downloadable PDF worksheets you can print and practice anytime.

Let’s draw an autumn scenery with the help of Monkey Pen’s step-by-step guide.

Step 1: First draw a tree trunk on the left side along with a few branches that appear like tiny Vs.

Step 2: Then add leaves that look like clouds above the branches.

Step 3: On top of the branches, draw a long line that looks like tiny curves connected.

Step 4: Under the tree shade, draw a straight line that passes horizontally behind the bottom of the tree trunk.

Step 5: Just below the straight line, create a pathway using a wavy line.

Step 6: Add another wavy line to complete the pathway.

Step 7: Show plants growing beside the pathway using a crowded cloud design.

Step 8: As a little aside, draw another crowded cloud design to indicate plants.

Step 9: Draw short vertical lines that stand above the plants.

Step 10: Connect these two lines with a short straight line followed by an upside-down V. This structure is a house.

Step 11: Draw the roof on the top with short lines connected in a series.

Step 12: Add another vertical line to make the house strong and inner lines for the sloping roof.

Step 13: Add thin, rectangle-shaped strips for the steps.

Step 14: Add a door with a rounded rectangle and a small square with a rounded top for the windows. Add a '+’ symbol within the window and a thin horizontal strip below.

Step 15: Include a chimney with smoke coming out of it, on top of the sloping roof on the left side.

Step 16: On the left side of the left pathway, draw a pumpkin with its stem.

Step 17: Add segments of pumpkin gradually using an oval shape.

Step 18: Create few more segments using curved lines on either side of the oval within the pumpkin.

Step 19: Show a few still segments on both sides in the pumpkin.

Step 20: Draw an autumn leaf that has fallen from a tree and is in a star shape with many ribs passing centrally, below the pumpkin.

Step 21: Add one more autumn leaf and draw a few curves that join both the leaves.

Step 22: Draw another pumpkin, but small, just beside the old pumpkin.

Step 23: Draw short, narrow leaves and a crowded design below and ahead of the small pumpkin.

Step 24: Provide a crowded design behind the tree to show natural vegetation.

Step 25: On the right side of the house, create one more tree with a partial tree trunk and branches shown.

Step 26: Include leaves for the tree using layers of crowded cloud designs.

Step 27: On the right side of the pathway, depict grasses that have grown using very tiny sharp spikes.

Step 28: Give tiny curves on the pathway and on either side of it.

Step 29: Add some more sharp, narrow leaves falling from the tree and on the ground

Step 30: A serene autumn scenery artwork is done.
