How to Draw a Flying Pigeon – Step-by-Step Bird Drawing for Kids

This flying pigeon lesson turns a dynamic, mid-air pose into something surprisingly easy to follow. Instead of overwhelming detail, it builds the bird step by step starting with the beak and body, then gradually unfolding those wide, textured wings that give it motion and life. The visual progression helps beginners keep control of each stage while still feeling like they’re drawing something full of energy. Printable PDF worksheets are included too, so learners can practice offline, repeat tricky wing sections, and enjoy sketching a bird that feels like it’s actually in flight.

Want to learn how to draw a flying pigeon? Come on, let’s explore the steps to draw an easy pigeon in flight.

Step 1: First, we will start with the pigeon’s beak. Draw a small, curved, leaf-like design with a tiny twig for its beak.

Step 2: Draw its head with an inverted ‘C’, followed by an upward C, then a slanting line upwards.

Step 3: Draw its neck and body with a big curve down the beak.

Step 4: Draw its open feathers in flight that look like fingers.

Step 5: Continue the feather patterns using small ‘U’s in a slanting position.

Step 6: Complete its open feathers in flight using tiny ‘U’s and even little ‘U’s sideways.

Step 7: Draw the feather pattern at the back using a series of small 'U's.

Step 8: Add some more ‘U's for the feathers.

Step 9: Include a few ‘U’s and a slanting line to complete its feather at the back.

Step 10: Give detailed feather patterns inside with a series of tiny ‘U’s.

Step 11: Below, add a layer of feathers using small 'U’s sideways.

Step 12: Complete the feathers on the row with the same pattern, then extend a line upwards.

Step 13: Provide detailing for the open feathers with small lines slantingly.

Step 14: Just aside and below the pigeon body, include a small detailing with ‘U’s and ‘V’s to show the feather patterns.

Step 15: Add detailing for the backside feather as well with narrow lines.

Step 16: Draw tiny ‘U’s in two layers, leaving a little gap, then draw a series of ‘U’s continuously to show the pigeon’s neck pattern.

Step 17: Below the body, create its legs with small claws.

Step 18: Draw its wing on the other side.

Step 19: Complete the wing using small U’s in a slanting position.

Step 20: Add a layer of feathers inside the wing.

Step 21: Include one more layer, too, with a medium curve followed by a few tiny ‘u’s.

Step 22: Provide detailing for the wing.

Step 23: Give it eyes with a broad, oval-like design, slightly pointed at the ends.

Step 24: A wonderful drawing of a pigeon flying is done.
