Step into the reptile world with Monkey Pen and learn how to draw an iguana step by step using a long tail, sturdy legs, and distinctive spines.

Step 1: Start drawing the head using curved lines. Then add the snout.

Step 2: Draw a wide smiling mouth.

Step 3: Add the lower part of the head and the jaw.

Step 4: Sketch the neck and the body with a long, curved line.

Step 5: Show a small portion of skin hanging loose under the chin. 

Step 6: Add a tiny nostril, oval eye and round cheek. 

Step 7: Add the front leg with toes and sharp claws.

Step 8: Draw a short curve behind the flap for the body.

Step 9: The other front leg is added along with toes and pointed claws.

Step 10: Make the belly with a short curve behind the leg.

Step 11: Add the folded hind leg.

Step 12: Draw the long, curved tail.

Step 13: Add another long curve to make the tail look thick.

Step 14: Add large, pointed spines to the back of the head. 

Step 15: Now start drawing smaller spines along the back.

Step 16: Continue the spines along the tail and underneath the face.

Step 17: Across the upper body surface, include many pointed stripes.

Step 18: Draw many vertical band-shaped stripes across the tail.

Step 19: Provide a few tiny, round spots on the head, neck and legs.

Step 20: Include a few curved lines on the body surface and neck.

Step 21: Draw a thick branch for the iguana to perch on. Add few bark lines within the branch.

Step 22: Draw a curved eyebrow and a big, round eye

Step 23: Add the pupil inside the eye and darken it. Don’t forget to leave a shine inside the eye.

Step 24: A tropical iguana is drawn.
