How to Draw a Macaw – Colourful Parrot Drawing Activity for Kids

How to draw a macaw? Let’s explore the simple drawing tricks to create wonderful macaw art with the help of Monkey Pen’s step-by-step instructions.

Step 1: First let’s draw its beak that looks curved and wide at the beginning and sharp towards the end. Also place a dot inside the beak above and a small half-oval alongside.

Step 2: Draw its head with a curved line above the beak. Also, add a small, hook- like design below the half oval.

Step 3: Below it, extend a curved line vertically in a slanting position.

Step 4: On the other side, draw a similar curved line but slightly gentler.

Step 5: Create its wing that looks like an oval at the top and has gentle curves at the bottom.

Step 6: Draw its legs that look like rectangles with tiny curves on the upper and the lower side.

Step 7: Draw a tree branch that starts slightly narrower and goes even narrower towards the end.

Step 8: Complete the wing by extending vertically what appears like narrow half Vs (shapes resembling the letter V that are cut in half) and full Vs.

Step 9: Right below the left leg, draw a narrow V, then a gentle curve vertically, followed by another V to make its tail.

Step 10: Complete the tail using a few Vs horizontally in a slanting position, then a vertical line above.

Step 11: Add one more layer for the tail feathers using a series of small, curved Vs.

Step 12: Add vertical stripes throughout the wings, tail feathers, and claws to show the pattern. Inside the upper oval-shaped wing and within the body below the neck, include small and tiny Us arranged in a sequence, one after the other.

Step 13: Draw the eye area with a tiny dash, then a curve and a series of tiny Us connected to form a round shape. Below it, add a few U's in tiny sizes on the neck region to indicate the body patterns.

Step 14: Draw the eye area with a tiny dash, then a curve and a series of tiny Us connected to form a round shape. Below it, add a few U's in tiny sizes on the neck region to indicate the body patterns.

Step 15: Add leaves for the branch that look like raindrops with a midrib passing centrally.

Step 16: Give eyes to the macaw with a tiny circle.

Step 17: Fill the circle, leaving the corners of the eye.
