How to Draw a Marigold – Simple Step-by-Step Flower Drawing for Kids

Marigolds are cheerful flowers known for their full, ruffled petals and bright golden blooms. This easy drawing tutorial helps children recreate their unique appearance through simple, guided steps. It’s an enjoyable nature-inspired activity that encourages creativity while teaching young artists about beautiful garden flowers.

 


It is very simple to sketch Marigold following Monkey Pen’s method. The directions can be found below.

Step 1: Start out with a little cluster of circular petals in the middle.

Step 2: Frame the top with a few rough petals.

Step 3: Draw more small petals on the left and bottom.

Step 4: Add some rounded petals on the right.

Step 5: Add a second layer with larger petals on the left side.

Step 6: Add big, scalloped petals on the bottom.

Step 7: Draw large petals on the right.

Step 8: Place larger petals on top.

Step 9: Finish the left side with extra huge petals.

Step 10: Add lower petals to make the flower more complete.

Step 11: Draw petals on the right side to balance the shape.

Step 12: Draw another layer of petals on the top right.

Step 13: Extend the row of top petals.

Step 14: Draw more petals on the left outer side.

Step 15: Draw two large petals at the lower-right.

Step 16: Complete the right outer edge with scalloped petals.

Step 17: Add petals along the lower-left edge.

Step 18: Finish the round flower outline.

Step 19: Below the flower, draw a small oval-shaped base.

Step 20: Add two long curved vertical lines for the stem.

Step 21: Draw tiny, pointed leaves on the left side.

Step 22: Draw the remaining jagged portion of the leaf above.

Step 23: Extend the leaf with more pointed edges.

Step 24: Finish the left leaf outline.

Step 25: Draw the right leaf stem and lower leaf shapes.

Step 26: Add the jagged top edge of the right leaf.

Step 27: Extend the leaf that has sharp edges.

Step 28: Complete the right leaf outline.

Step 29: Add midribs for both the leaves and create a flower base.

Step 30: A blooming marigold drawing is completed.
