How to Draw a Microwave – Kitchen Appliance Drawing for Kids

This microwave drawing lesson takes a familiar kitchen appliance and turns it into a simple, beginner-friendly sketching activity. The step-by-step visual guide breaks the drawing into easy shapes and clear stages, helping learners add details like buttons, doors, and panels without feeling overwhelmed. It’s a fun way for kids to practice observing everyday objects while building confidence with structured drawing exercises. Printable PDF worksheets are included, making it easy to follow along, redraw each stage, and enjoy seeing a recognizable microwave come together one step at a time.

Doors, buttons, and simple box shapes come together as kids sketch a microwave using neat lines and easy steps.

Step 1: First construct a medium sized rectangle.

Step 2: Draw outer corners of rectangle by extending inclined lines above.

Step 3: Join the edges of outer corners with a tiny line.

Step 4: Make a vertical line within the rectangle to split the microwave in half.

Step 5: Draw a little rectangle on the other side of the rectangle to construct the glass door.

Step 6: Trace the outline of this small rectangle.

Step 7: Construct a robust handle for the glass door.

Step 8: Draw the broad bases for the handle, one above and one below.

Step 9: On the back, draw a thin rectangle with rounded corners.

Step 10: Draw a very little rectangle on the front side.

Step 11: Draw an outside rectangle around this small one.

Step 12: Below this draw three little rectangles in a row.

Step 13: Add a few additional buttons vertically next to the current buttons.

Step 14: Make little squares below, horizontally.

Step 15: Add a few more squares to make another row.

Step 16: Add yet another sequence of buttons.

Step 17: Now we have the fourth row of buttons, which are small squares.

Step 18: Draw somewhat larger rectangles with rounded corners for the buttons.

Step 19: Write 12:00 on the first rectangle button near the top.

Step 20: Label the first three rows of buttons “Popcorn”, “Potato”, “Pizza”, “Beverage”, “Reheat” and “Defrost.”

Step 21: Write ‘1’, ‘2’, ‘3’, ‘4’, ‘5’, ‘6’, ‘7’, ‘8’, ‘9’, ‘Power Level’, ‘0’ and ‘Timer’ on the next four lines. Then put ‘STOP Cancel’ and ‘START +30 Sec’ on the remaining two buttons.

Step 22: Draw two little half rectangles under the microwave for the base.

Step 23: You have done the sleek microwave drawing.
