How to Draw a Monarch Butterfly – Easy Step-by-Step Butterfly Drawing for Kids
How to draw a monarch butterfly: step-by-step drawing instructions
Step 1: Draw two curved lines for the antennae of the butterfly with a tiny circle at its edge. Both lines should start from the edges of a tiny curve below, just as shown in the image

Step 2: Add two small eyes in the round beneath the antennae.

Step 3: Draw a tiny oval shape that forms the upper part of its body.

Step 4: Add the body downwards with an extended, narrow form.

Step 5: Outline the top of both wings with long lines with a curve at the edge

Step 6: Finish the left upper wing by adding the downward portion.

Step 7: Finish the right upper wing by completing the lower part of the wing.

Step 8: Start sketching the contour of the left wing using a wavy line.

Step 9: Similarly, outline the left lower wings.

Step 10: Close both the lower wings at the point where they join the body.

Step 11: Draw a long narrow pattern within the left upper wing.

Step 12: Make the same design within the right upper wing.

Step 13: Create three continuous curved designs within the left upper wing.

Step 14: Create three similar continuous curved designs within the right upper wing also.

Step 15: Create a straight line across both of the upper wings as in the image, as a continuation of the design you have just drawn.

Step 16: Draw further straight lines along the petal-like design you have just drawn, inside the upper wings.

Step 17: Draw two long teardrop-shaped designs within the lower wings.

Step 18: Create scalloped details on both lower wings around that teardrop shape.

Step 19: Draw more curving borders inside those lower wings as a continuation of the scallop detailing.

Step 20: Create more straight stripes in both lower wings, within the design you have just made.

Step 21: Make long, thin stripes starting from the body towards the edges of the lower wing on the left.

Step 22: Attach the last stripe to the lower portion of the right wing.

Step 23: Make tiny oval marks along the edge of the left upper wing in a straight line as shown in the image.

Step 24: Make the matching circles along the edge of the right upper wing.

Step 25: Add small oval shapes on the lower wing edges.

Step 26: Make thin bands across the body of the butterfly.

Step 27: Your monarch butterfly drawing is completed. Give it some colors; cute pastels or vibrant shades, just as you wish!
