How to Draw an Okapi – Easy Wild Animal Drawing for Kids

Striped legs and long faces come together as kids sketch an okapi using smooth lines and simple animal shapes.

Step 1: Draw two small, curved bumps on the okapi's head for its ossicones.

Step 2: Put two large, pointed ears on both sides of the ossicones.

Step 3: Draw a long, curved line that runs down from the top of your head to begin the face.

Step 4: Finish the lower area of the face by creating softly curving lines.

Step 5: Draw a long, curved line starting from the upper side of the head. This line should begin at the neck and go to the back.

Step 6: Make a curved line slanting beneath the head to create the neck's front.

Step 7: Draw the lines of the ear's interior and nostrils, mouth details and a small eyebrow.

Step 8: Draw one of the front legs, pointing downward from the body.

Step 9: Add another front leg next to it to make the legs both slim and long.

Step 10: Draw the belly line curved underneath the body.

Step 11: Include the rounded hindquarter and back of the okapi.

Step 12: Draw one of the back legs first beneath the body.

Step 13: Include the second leg to it.

Step 14: Draw the tail at the backside.

Step 15: Create small hoof designs on the bottom of each of the four legs. Add hoof shapes at the bottom of all four.

Step 16: Draw curving stripe lines along the neck.

Step 17: Make short stripe lines along the upper part of the  back and front legs on the right side.

Step 18: Create similar stripe lines along the left front leg.

Step 19: Make wavy stripe lines along the back of the hips.

Step 20: Create additional stripes on the left back leg. Add small bands to the lower portion of all the four legs.

Step 21: Draw a circular eye on the face.

Step 22: Include the pupil and darken it by leaving a small spot to show the light inside the eye.

Step 23: Complete the okapi by examining each line, and then including any other details that are needed. Now its time to color your ow okapi!
