How to Draw a Parakeet – Simple Colourful Bird Drawing for Kids

This parakeet drawing lesson makes a lively little bird feel surprisingly simple to build from scratch. Beginners are guided through each stage starting with basic shapes for the head and body, then gradually adding the curved beak, wings, tail feathers, and tiny leg details. The step-by-step visuals keep everything clear and easy to follow, even when the details start to stack up. The printable PDF worksheet gives extra room for practice, tracing, and relaxed sketching at your own pace.

Come on, let’s explore how to draw a parakeet in an easy way.

Step 1: First draw its curved beak with a small dot and a tiny wide U below it

Step 2: Draw its round head, followed by its body on the left.

Step 3: On the right side, complete its head and rounded body.

Step 4: Draw its body on the back with a vertical line followed by a 'V'. Then add its tail wing with, again, a vertical line in a slanting position from one end of the V.

Step 5: Include its fluffy feather on the back tail using slightly gentle, curved lines.

Step 6: Draw its legs that look like rounded squares with two curved lines on every leg.

Step 7: Add a tree branch that is cylindrical and narrow with sharp ends on one side and rounded on the other side.

Step 8: Give a wing inside that appears like a hook.

Step 9: Include tail pattern using vertical lines and add curves above.

Step 10: Show fluffy tail patterns on the wing attached to the body using tiny U's.

Step 11: Draw vertical lines below for the wing pattern

Step 12: Add some more patterns towards the end of the body wing

Step 13: Show its soft feather within the body using a series of tiny U's in layers, one below the other.

Step 14: Include some wide U's within the body too that indicate the soft body. On the sides of the upper and lower head, draw tiny dash-like lines.

Step 15: Draw horizontal lines within the tree branch.

Step 16: Give eyes for the parakeet using wide ovals with sharp ends and tiny curves above each eye.

Step 17: Darken both the eyes

Step 18: A charming parakeet drawing is completed.
