How to Draw the Solar System – Easy Space Drawing for Kids

This solar system drawing lesson turns a whole space scene into a clear, step-by-step creative journey that beginners can actually follow without feeling overwhelmed. You start by placing the sun, then gradually build each planet along its orbit Mercury, Venus, Earth, and the rest adding rings, textures, and small details one stage at a time. It also includes downloadable PDF worksheets you can print and reuse, making it easy to practice the full solar system again and again.

Drawing a solar system is not complex. You can create it easily using Monkey Pen’s step-by-step guide.

Step 1: First draw a sun on the right facing left, with a half circle.

Step 2: Add its outer rays, that look like a series of triangles connected together.

Step 3: Now draw an orbit for Mercury using U shaped curve. Mercury is a small circle with tiny circles inside.

Step 4: Create an orbit for Venus also above Mercury. Venus is a slightly bigger circle than Mercury and has curly lines inside.

Step 5: Above Venus, show the orbit for our planet, Earth. Draw rugged shapes as shown in a globe.

Step 6: Next is Mars, which lies above the Earth with an elliptical orbit. Mars is a slightly bigger circle than Mercury and smaller circle than Venus and has tiny ovals inside.

Step 7: The largest planet Jupiter comes above the Mars and has spiral lines throughout with few dots and an oval inside.

Step 8: Then comes Saturn with rings that revolves in an elliptical orbit around the Sun. Saturn has a round shape little smaller than Jupiter and has horizontal lines passing through it with a double layered oval shaped ring covering it.

Step 9: Draw Uranus that is little smaller than Saturn, having circular rings and elliptical orbit.

Step 10: Here comes the eighth planet Neptune that is almost similar in size as Uranus. The planet has swirls passing through it.

Step 11: Add few tiny circles within and outside the solar system to indicate the other objects in the galaxy.

Step 12: Include some stars around the solar system.

Step 13:  Above the solar system, write the word ‘SOLAR’ in block letters.

Step 14: Then write ‘SYSTEM’ in block letters.

Step 15: Thus Solar System is created.
