Here is a step-by-step lesson on how to design summer scenery from Monkey Pen.
Step 1: Draw a straight up and down tree trunk with a few ‘V’ shaped branches.

Step 2: Sketch an outline for the top of the tree, using a cloud form to denote the leaves.

Step 3: Fill the outline with the same pattern.

Step 4: Finish by adding a spikey design at the bottom of the tree trunk. Draw a large curve underneath the trunk to indicate the surface of the ground.

Step 5: Draw another big curve over the first curve to show the ground is still rough.

Step 6: Draw a cloud form along the edge of the second curve to represent a plant growth.

Step 7: Above this ground surface draw a home starting with the roof which is an upside down ‘V’ made up of thin rectangles.

Step 8: Draw vertical lines to make the walls of the house.

Step 9: Make a narrow rectangle to extend the roof to the left.

Step 10: Construct the third wall at the back.

Step 11: Complete the sloping roof on the left with a sliding horizontal line and a vertical line.

Step 12: Add a chimney on top of the sloping roof.

Step 13: Include a door and window with a rectangle and square.

Step 14: Inside the door, make an F shaped line with a tiny circle as a detail. Don’t forget to draw the ‘+’ symbol within the window to separate the panels.

Step 15: Behind the tree, add a plant and grass.

Step 16: Above the plant with the cloud shaped design, make another cloud shape.

Step 17: Build a fence with two long, rectangular bars.

Step 18: Place cylindrical bars above the rectangular bars, one by one vertically, with triangle shapes at the top. This looks like a criss-cross fence.

Step 19: Add plants slightly little ahead of the tree and house.

Step 20: Include a very tiny flower above the plant on the right side and a slightly bigger flower on the left side too.

Step 21: Draw tiny grasses on the ground ahead of the tree and in front of the house.

Step 22: Draw curly lines that lie parallel to each other for the pathway.

Step 23: Add a small circle above, in the sky, that represents the sun.

Step 24: Draw the rays of the sun by drawing small vertical lines around the sun.

Step 25: Remember to add clouds in the sky above.
