Seven-year-old Tara loved visiting the little art gallery in her town.
While everyone admired the colours, Tara noticed something unusual—every painting made a sound.
The forest painting whispered with rustling leaves. The sea crashed with waves. The snowy mountain hummed with cold wind, and the busy village echoed with laughter and chatter.
No one else could hear these hidden sounds.
Every Saturday, Tara walked from painting to painting, smiling as she listened.

One afternoon, she stopped in front of a painting she had never seen before.
It showed a beautiful golden castle surrounded by colourful gardens and sparkling rivers.
But something was wrong.
It was completely silent.

No birds sang.
No water trickled.
No children laughed.
The silence felt strange.
Almost... lonely.
Tara leaned closer.
"Why can't I hear you?" she whispered.
Just then, the painting shimmered.
A tiny golden door appeared at the bottom of the frame.

Curious, Tara stepped through and entered the painted kingdom.
The castle was quiet. The trees did not rustle, and the fountains flowed without a sound.
Birds opened their beaks, but no songs came out.
Even a rabbit’s footsteps were silent as it hopped by.
The entire kingdom seemed frozen in silence.

Then an old painter carrying a long silver brush slowly walked towards her.
He looked worried.
"Our kingdom has lost every sound," he said softly.
"Who took them?" Tara asked.
The old painter pointed towards the tallest tower in the castle.

"Long ago, a frightened king believed loud noises brought trouble."
"So, he ordered every sound to be locked away inside a giant crystal ball."
"Now no one can laugh, sing, or even whisper."
Tara looked up at the shining tower.
"We have to bring the sounds back."
The old painter smiled.
"I hoped you would say that."

They climbed the winding staircase to a beautiful crystal bell.
Inside floated glowing sounds—birdsong, children’s laughter, raindrops, wind, music, and soft bedtime whispers.
The bell sparkled quietly, but it had no door.
“How can we open it?” Tara wondered.

The old painter gently handed her the silver paintbrush.
And told her that “only a child with kind, helping heart can hear the sound of the paintings.
That child will only be able to use this brush. And this brush can paint only one thing," he said.
"What should I paint?" Tara asked.
"A key," he replied.

Tara carefully painted a little golden key in the air.
As soon as the painting was finished, it became real.
The tiny key floated gently into her hand.

Tara opened the crystal bell’s door with the key.

At once...
Thousands of happy sounds burst into the sky.
Birds sang.
Leaves danced in the wind.
The river splashed joyfully.
Music filled every corner of the kingdom.
The silent painting had found its voice again.

“Dear Lotus Flower,” she said kindly, “my little Buzzy is trapped inside. He made a mistake, but he has learned his lesson. Could you please open your petals just a little?”
The lotus answered in a calm, sleepy voice.
“I close every evening to rest until morning.”
It was silent for a moment.

Then it said, “A mother’s love is gentle and true. For that love, I will help.”

He still loved exploring the wonderful world around him, but he never forgot the lesson he had learned.
