Deep in a colourful forest lived a little squirrel named Nutty.

He loved red berries, golden leaves, blue butterflies, purple flowers, and green ferns.

One sunny morning, he had an idea.

“I’ll make the most colourful nest in the whole forest!” he cried.

He picked a bright red flower petal and tucked it into his nest.

"It looks lovely!"

Then he found a glowing yellow leaf.

"Even better!"

Soon he gathered soft pink petals, orange leaves, tiny blue feathers, and colourful butterfly wings that had naturally fallen to the ground.

But after a while, collecting fallen treasures wasn't enough.

"I need even more colours!" Nutty said.

So he gently borrowed one bright petal from a flower.

Then another.

He carefully took colourful leaves from little plants.

He even asked butterflies if he could borrow just a tiny bit of their bright colours.

Little by little, Nutty filled his nest with every colour he could find.

When he finally finished, he smiled proudly.

"My nest is the brightest place in the forest!"

“But the next morning, something felt different.

The flowers no longer smiled brightly.

The butterflies looked pale.

The trees seemed dull.

Even the forest birds sang more quietly.

Nutty looked around in surprise.

"Where have all the colours gone?"

Just then, a little rabbit walked by.

"The forest doesn't feel happy today," she said softly.

A robin looked at his nest.

"My favourite red flowers aren't bright anymore."

A butterfly flapped slowly.

"I don't feel like dancing."

Nutty looked back at his own nest. It was bursting with colour.

Then he looked at the quiet forest. Suddenly, he understood.

"I took too much," he whispered sadly.

"All the colours are here... with me."

His happy smile disappeared.

"I wanted my nest to be beautiful."

"I never wanted the whole forest to become grey."

Without waiting another moment, Nutty hurried to work.

He carefully returned every flower petal to the flowers.

He tucked the colourful leaves back onto the bushes and trees.

He gently gave each butterfly back its bright colours.

One by one, the forest began to change.

The flowers bloomed brightly again.

Golden leaves danced in the breeze.

Butterflies fluttered happily through the sunshine.

The birds sang cheerful songs once more.

Soon, the whole forest glowed with even more colour than before.

Nutty smiled.

Nutty’s nest was simpler, holding only treasures that had fallen naturally.

He realised the forest itself was the most beautiful home.

“The colours are back!” cheered the rabbit.

“The forest feels alive again!” sang the robin.

Butterflies twirled like tiny rainbows as Nutty laughed with his friends.

"I've learned something important," he said.

"Beautiful things become even more beautiful when everyone gets to enjoy them."

From that day on, Nutty still loved collecting colourful treasures.

But he only gathered the little gifts that nature had already left behind.
