High in the green mountains lived Ember, a tiny dragon unlike the others.

His wings were short, and his roar sounded like a cheerful squeak.

But Ember had a big dream.

“I want the greatest treasure in the whole world!” he said.

One day, he asked an old mountain turtle,

"What is the greatest treasure?"

The turtle smiled.

"Many dragons think it's gold."

That was all Ember needed to hear.

The next morning, he set off to find treasure.

He searched inside caves.

 He looked under rocks.

 He climbed steep hills.

But all he found were a few shiny pebbles.

 "This isn't enough," Ember sighed.

As he walked home, he noticed a little rabbit trying to carry a basket full of apples.

The basket was much too heavy.

"I can help!" Ember said.

He gently picked up the basket with his tiny claws and carried it all the way to the rabbit's burrow.

 The rabbit smiled brightly.

"Thank you, Ember!"

The words floated through the air like tiny golden sparkles.

They drifted behind Ember all the way back to his cave.

When they reached the cave, the walls gave a soft, warm glow.

 Ember blinked.

 "That's strange."

The next day, he helped a family of birds build a nest after a windy storm.

 "Thank you!" they chirped happily.

Again, tiny golden sparkles floated after him.

This time, his cave shone even brighter.

Soon Ember began helping everyone he met.

He carried water for a thirsty deer.

He picked sweet berries for Grandma Hedgehog.

He helped a little squirrel rescue its kite from a tall tree.

Every time someone smiled and said, "Thank you!"

More tiny golden sparkles followed him home.

Day after day, the cave became brighter.

The walls glittered like thousands of tiny stars.

Visitors came from all over the forest.

"What beautiful jewels!" they whispered.

Ember looked around in surprise.

"There aren't any jewels."

"It's only filled with thank yous."

One evening, the wise mountain turtle visited Ember’s glowing cave.

“I think you’ve found the greatest treasure,” he said.

Ember remembered every smile, kind word and happy face.

He realised these treasures could never be bought or stolen. They grew whenever he helped someone.

From that day on, Ember stopped searching for gold.

Instead, he searched for chances to be kind.

The more people he helped, the brighter his cave became.

And everyone who visited left with a smile, because the warm glow inside the cave reminded them that kindness always shines the brightest.

Many years later, travellers still spoke of the little dragon whose cave sparkled more beautifully than any treasure chest.

But the real treasure was never the glowing cave.

It was the thankful hearts that made it shine.

Moral: Gratitude is life's greatest treasure.
