One day, a little monkey found a big drum under a tree.
“Wow!” he said happily.
“A drum!”
He picked up two sticks.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The sound was very loud.
The birds flew away.
Flap! Flap!
The rabbit covered his ears.
“Oh dear!” he said.
Even the squirrel jumped.
“Too loud!” it squeaked.
But the monkey kept playing.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
He laughed.
“Listen to my drum!”
Just then, an old elephant walked by.
He stopped and listened.
“Little monkey,” he said gently, “your drum is very loud.”
The monkey looked around.
No birds… no friends…
Only silence.
“Oh…” he said softly.
“Did I scare them?”
The elephant nodded.
“Try playing softly,” he said.
“Music can be gentle too.”
The monkey looked at his drum.
“Softly?” he asked.
He tapped the drum.
Tap… tap…
The sound was quiet.
He smiled.
He tried again.
Tap… tap… tap…
The sound felt nice.
Not too loud… not too fast…
Just right.
Soon, the birds came back.
Flap… flap…
The rabbit opened his ears.
“That sounds nice,” he said.
The squirrel came closer.
“I like it!” it said.
The monkey smiled wide.
He played gently.
Tap… tap… tap…
The animals began to move.
Step… step…
They danced slowly.
Then happily!
“Yay!” they cheered.
The monkey laughed.
“I like this music,” he said.
He played softly, thinking of his friends.
And everyone enjoyed the music together.
