Deep in a peaceful forest lived a cheerful little peacock named Pico.
He loved every season, but spring was his favourite. Spring filled the forest with colourful flowers, fluttering butterflies, singing birds, and warm sunshine.
Every year, Pico counted the days until spring arrived.
One chilly morning, Pico hurried outside with a smile.
The trees were bare, the flower buds were still asleep, and cold clouds drifted across the sky.
Pico sighed. “Is spring here yet?”
Old Oliver Owl smiled from an oak tree.
“Not today,” he said kindly. “Spring comes when the forest is ready.”
The next morning, Pico asked, “Is Spring here yet?”
“Not yet,” Oliver chuckled.
Pico asked every day, but the trees remained quiet, the flowers stayed closed, and the air was still cool.
Soon, he grew impatient.
“I wish spring would hurry!” he said.
Oliver Owl gently flew down beside him.
“If you only wait for spring, you may miss today’s wonders,” he said.
“What wonders?” asked Pico.
Oliver smiled. “Find one beautiful thing each day until spring arrives.”
Pico decided to try.
The next morning, he found tiny sparkling frost shining like little diamonds on the grass.
The day after that, he watched snowflakes twirl gently through the air before melting on his feathers.
Another day, he listened to raindrops tapping softly on the leaves like tiny drums.
He helped a sleepy hedgehog gather soft moss to make a warm bed.
He watched busy squirrels hide acorns beneath the trees.
One afternoon, he noticed tiny birds carefully building their nests.
Another morning, he spotted small green buds peeking from the branches.
Every day, Pico discovered something new.
Soon he wasn't asking about spring anymore.
He was too busy exploring the forest.
Then one bright morning, Pico stepped outside and stopped.
The trees were covered with fresh green leaves.
Bright flowers had opened everywhere.
Butterflies floated through the warm air.
The birds filled the forest with happy songs.
Spring had arrived.
Pico laughed with delight.
"I didn't even notice!" he said.
Oliver Owl smiled.
"You were busy finding the beauty in every day."
