At the edge of a quiet little village stood an old windmill.
Its tall wooden blades turned slowly in the gentle breeze.
Whoosh...
Whoosh...
Whoosh...
The windmill had been standing there for many, many years.
The villagers loved it, not only because it helped grind grain but also because everyone believed it had a special secret.
Whenever the wind blew, the windmill whispered gentle advice that only careful listeners could hear.
Children often sat beside it after school and heard:
“Take your time.”
“Look carefully.”
“Try once more.”
They smiled because its whispers always helped them.
Among them was Ben, a cheerful, clever boy who always hurried.
He rushed through puzzles, drawings, games and even homework.
“If I hurry,” Ben always said, “I’ll finish first!”
One sunny afternoon, Ben and his friends visited the old windmill.
Its blades turned gently.
Whoosh... whoosh... whoosh...
“Slow down...” the windmill whispered.
Everyone listened except Ben.
“I don’t have time for whispers,” he laughed. “I can figure things out faster!”
He ran off toward a little maze in the village garden.
"I'll be out first!" he shouted.
Without looking carefully, Ben rushed through the winding paths.
Left...
Right...
Left again...
Soon he stopped.
"Oh!"
He was back where he had started.
He hurried again.
Once more he took quick turns without thinking.
Again, he ended up at the beginning.
His friends walked slowly behind him.
They looked carefully at each path before choosing which way to go.
Step by step...
They quietly reached the middle of the maze.
"How did you do that?"
His friend Mia smiled.
"We didn't rush."
"We looked carefully."
Just then, the gentle breeze carried another whisper from the windmill.
"Slow down..."
This time, Ben stopped and listened.
He took a deep breath.
Instead of running, he looked at each path before taking another step.
Slowly...
Carefully...
One turn at a time.
Soon he found the right path.
At last, he reached the centre of the maze.
"I did it!" Ben cheered.
Later that afternoon, Ben sat beside the old windmill.
"I thought going faster would help," he admitted.
The windmill's wooden blades turned slowly.
Whoosh...
Whoosh...
Whoosh...
Then it whispered,
"Fast isn't always first."
"Careful steps often go farther."
Ben smiled.
From that day on, Ben slowed down whenever something was important.
His drawings grew neater, puzzles became easier and he made fewer mistakes. He learned that doing his best felt better than finishing first.
Whenever children passed the old windmill, they listened to its gentle blades.
Whoosh... whoosh... whoosh...
Its wise whispers still floated on the breeze.
Moral: Patience brings better results. Taking your time helps you do your best.
