Feb 20, 2026
This is a simple step-by-step guide that teaches kids and beginners how to draw a ladybug. Monkey Pen’s easy tricks and tips will help you create better ladybug art.
Step 1: First, let’s start with the ladybug’s mouth, that appears like a boat design.

Step 2: Draw its antennae, using two narrow parallel lines with a tiny round in a slanting position.

Step 3: Draw a slightly broader oval for the head just above the mouth in a horizontal position.

Step 4: Draw a rough circle design just behind the oval.

Step 5: Draw a big, square-shaped 'C' in a slanting position, facing upwards for its body.

Step 6: Create a half-moon-like shape to complete the whole-body outline.

Step 7: Add a big curve sideways on the upper body, facing down, that looks like partitioning. Then include a tiny curve that branches out from the bigger C.

Step 8: Draw a normal ‘S’ on one side of the circle and a reverse ‘S’ on the other side of the circle, just below the partitions. Create a narrow line vertically at the centre of its head.

Step 9: Then draw its legs that look like hooks connected together.

Step 10: Complete the leg with tiny squares connected in a series, followed by a finger-like design.

Step 11: Draw the other leg too. (Refer to step 9)

Step 12: Complete the whole leg. (Refer to step 10)

Step 13: Under its body, draw one more leg. (Refer to steps 9 and 10.)

Step 14: On the opposite side, create one leg with a series of small hooks.

Step 15: Add its eyes within the head with a half and ¾ circle.

Step 16: Include circular patterns over its body.

Step 17: To show the bold patterns of ladybug, darken them on the narrower side first.

Step 18: Now shade the patterns on the opposite side.

Step 19: Fill the eyes inside, leaving the corners, to show its pupils.

Step 20: A cute ladybug drawing is over.
