Everyone is sitting at the waterfall today: Ashley the Rabbit, Baba the Monkey, Bella the Elephant, Jojo the Bear, Lexa the Tiger, and Sophie, Josh, and Tom!
They eat their snacks and enjoy the beautiful waterfall. No one wants to swim today because the water in the pool is a little cold. What can our friends do now?
"Bicycle race!" says Tom. He loves to ride his bicycle and thinks everyone can have fun on their bicycles. "That sounds like fun," says Jojo. Everyone agrees: It's time for a bicycle race!
They put on their backpacks and said goodbye to the beautiful waterfall. Sophie leads them down the path through the forest until they come to the gate. They open the gate and go into the park.
Everyone goes home. They all put away their backpacks and got out their bicycles. They cannot have a bicycle race on the street; there are cars, and no one wants to get hurt!
They meet at the park again. “Where can we have our race?” asks Baba. They all think for a while. “I know!” shouts Bella. “Behind the school, where the teachers park their cars!”
This is a good idea, because there are no classes today. They pedal through the park and come to the school. Bella is smart, and her idea is very good; there are no cars at all!
"Let's start at this end," says Tom. So, everyone lines up their bicycles. Sophie has a purple bicycle with a pink seat. Baba has a blue bicycle with a loud horn.
Bella has a yellow bicycle with a large seat because she is an elephant. Jojo has a brown bicycle with a bell, and Josh has a red bicycle with an extra seat on the back.
Lexa has an orange bicycle with black stripes; and Tom has a green bicycle with a light on the front.
Now everyone is ready to go. Tom says, “On your mark. Get set...” But he does not say “Go.” Why not? There is a problem. Little Ashley has fallen off of her bicycle! Oh, no!
She gets back up on her bicycle. Now she is ready to try again. Tom says, “On your mark. Get set...” But he does not say “Go.” There is another problem. Baba’s long tail is caught in his wheel!
"Ouch!" says Baba. "I'll help you," says Jojo. So Jojo gets off his bicycle. He unwraps Baba's long tail from Baba's back wheel. "Thanks!" says Baba. "You're welcome," says Jojo.
"Now," says Tom. "Is everyone ready to go?" "Yes," they all answer. "Okay," says Tom. "Here we go, one last time. On your mark. Get set. Go!" And they're off!
Ashley’s feet almost don’t reach her pedals, but she tries her best. Baba kept his tail straight up in the air. Bella raises her trunk and blows air through it. It sounds like a trumpet!
Jojo is not going very fast. He is looking at a tree nearby where there are bees and some tasty- looking honey. Josh is doing his best, but he runs over a rock. It almost throws him off his bicycle!
Lexa turns invisible: she thinks this can help her win the race. However, it does not work because Sophie runs into a crash! But no one is hurt, and they get up and keep going.
Tom pedals as fast as he can and finishes first! He is the winner! “Okay,” he says. “Now everyone can come to my house.” “Why?” they all ask. “To share my prize: ice cream!”
