One sunny morning, a tiny chick wandered in the yard.
Tap… tap… tap…
She pecked the ground…
She chased a tiny bug…
She wiggled her fluffy tail.
Suddenly—
whoosh! whoosh!
Little birds flew across the sky.
Up… up… up…
The chick looked up.
“Ohhh…” she chirped softly.
“I want to fly too!”
She stretched her tiny wings.
Flap… flap… flap…
She bent her knees…
Hop!
Down she came again.
She blinked.
“Hmm…”
She tried again.
Flap… flap…
Hop!
Still on the ground.
The chick tilted her head.
“Maybe a bigger flap?”
Flap-flap-FLAP!
Hop!
Still on the ground.
This time—she lifted just a little…
and landed with a soft bounce.
“Oh!” she chirped.
“I went a little up!”
Just then, Mama Chicken came by.
“What are you doing, little one?” she asked gently.
“I’m flying!” the chick said proudly.
Mama smiled.
“You are learning,” she said.
The chick tried again—
Flap… flap…
Hop!
A tiny lift… a tiny glide…
The chick giggled.
“I’m not flying high… but I’m trying!”
Mama nodded.
“Every little flap makes you stronger.”
The chick flapped happily—
Flap… flap… flap…
Not high like the birds yet…
but a little higher than before.
And that made her very happy.
