THE LITTLE FISH'S BIG QUESTION | Free Children Book

Deep in the blue ocean, a little fish has one very big question. It can see bubbles, plants, and friends swimming by, but it still cannot find the one thing everyone keeps talking about. A thoughtful story for young children, inviting them to follow a curious fish as it searches for something closer than it knows.

One day, a little fish was swimming in the ocean.

Swish… swish…

It saw bubbles… plants… other fishes…

but something puzzled it.

“I see everything… but where is water?”

It swam to its mother.

“Mom, where is water?”

The mother smiled.

“It is all around you, my dear.”

The little fish looked around carefully.

“I still can’t see it,” it said.

“It is where you live every day.” The mother said.

The fish blinked.

“That sounds the same… but I don’t understand.”

“Let me ask someone else,” it thought.

It swam to a seahorse.

“Can you tell me where water is?”

The seahorse said,

“We are always inside it.”

“Inside what?” asked the fish.

The seahorse smiled but swam away.

The little fish felt confused.

“No one is explaining it clearly!”

“Maybe the turtle will know,” it thought.

It swam to a turtle.

“Please tell me, where is water?”

The turtle said slowly,

“Water is our home.”

The little fish sighed.

“Home? I already know that!”

“I need a better answer,” it said.

It swam faster…

swish… swish…

Then it saw a dolphin.

“Please help me,” said the fish.

“Everyone says water is important…

but I can’t see it!”

The dolphin looked at the little fish kindly.

“Come with me,” it said.

The dolphin lifted the fish and swam up…

up…

up…

They came above the water.

The fish looked around.

The sky was bright.

The sun was shining.

“Wow! It’s so big and beautiful!”

But soon…

“Oh… I can’t breathe!”

The dolphin quickly took the fish back down… into the water.

Swish… swish…

The fish felt better again.

It looked around slowly… and smiled.

“Oh… this is water… this is what I need to live!”

The dolphin nodded gently.

The little fish swam happily.

“Now I understand.”

Moral: We often don’t realise the value of what we already have.
