One evening, a little monkey was walking in the forest.
Step… step… step…
Soon, night came.
The moon shone bright.
Suddenly, the monkey saw a big shadow behind him.
“Oh no! A monster!” he cried.
He started to run.
Run… run… run…
But the shadow ran too!
The monkey got scared.
He quickly hid behind a big rock.
“Whooo… whooo…”
An owl sat on a tree and watched.
“Little monkey,” said the owl softly,
“That is not a monster. It is your shadow.”
“My shadow?” asked the monkey.
“Try moving,” said the owl.
The monkey slowly lifted his hand—
The shadow lifted its hand too!
He jumped a little—
The shadow jumped too!
The monkey laughed.
“Ha ha! It’s just me!”
He came out from behind the rock and danced.
The shadow danced with him.
The monkey smiled happily.
“No more fear!”
Moral: Not everything is as scary as it seems.
