One afternoon, a little girl named Mia was walking home from school.

She held her bag and walked slowly.

On the way, she heard a soft sound.

“Meow… meow…”

Mia stopped.

She looked around.

Near a bush, she saw a tiny kitten.

It looked small and scared.

“Oh!” said Mia softly.

“Are you alone?”

The kitten looked at her.

“Meow…”

Mia knelt down gently.

“Don’t worry,” she said.

“I will help you.”

She carefully picked up the kitten and took it home.

At home, Mama smiled.

“Oh, a little kitten!” she said.

Mia gave the kitten a warm bath.

Splash… splash…

The kitten became clean and fluffy.

Then Mia brought a small bowl of milk.

The kitten drank slowly.

Sip… sip…

“Good kitty,” Mia smiled.

The kitten looked happy now.

Mia played with the kitten.

She rolled a ball.

The kitten chased it.

Tap… tap…

They both laughed and played.

Mia hugged the kitten.

“I like you,” she said.

But then Mia thought for a moment.

“Maybe you have a home,” she said softly.

“We should find your family.”

Mama nodded.

“That is kind,” she said.

The next day, Mia made small posters.

“Lost kitten,” she wrote.

She drew a picture of the kitten.

Mama helped her paste the posters around the neighbourhood.

They waited.

After some time, a lady came to their house.

“Is this my kitten?” she asked.

The kitten ran to her.

“Meow!” it said happily.

The lady smiled.

“Oh, I was looking everywhere!” she said.

Mia smiled gently.

“Here you go,” she said.

She gave the kitten back.

The lady said, “Thank you for taking care of my kitten.”

Mia waved goodbye.

“Bye, little kitty,” she said softly.

That evening, Mia felt a little quiet.

The house felt empty.

Mama and Papa noticed.

Mia sat alone.

“I miss the kitten,” she said.

Mama hugged her.

“You did a kind thing,” she said.

Later that day, Papa came home with a small box.

“Close your eyes,” he said.

Mia closed her eyes.

“Now open,” said Papa.

Inside the box was a tiny kitten.

“Meow…”

Mia’s eyes widened.

“A kitten!” she said happily.

“This one is for you,” Papa smiled.

Mia gently picked up the kitten.

“Hello,” she whispered.

The kitten purred softly.

Mia smiled wide.

She was not alone anymore.
