THE MONKEY AND THE KIND WIND | Free Children Book

Milo the monkey feels hot, tired, and far too slow to play under the bright jungle sun. Then something cool and gentle brushes past him, moving the leaves and bringing a quiet kind of comfort. A soothing children’s story about the little help we can feel, even when we cannot see it.

Milo the monkey lived in a big, leafy tree.

One morning, the sun was very bright.

And very hot.

Milo tried to climb.

But he felt slow and sticky.

“I’m too hot,” he said.

He tried to play.

But he felt tired.

“Oh dear,” Milo sighed.

“I don’t feel like playing today.”

He sat quietly on a branch.

Just then—

swish… whirr…

Something soft touched his ear.

Milo looked around.

“Hello?” he said.

Whoosh… puff…

The Kind Wind came.

It was gentle and cool.

Like a soft hug.

Milo smiled.

“Hello, Wind!” he giggled.

The Wind blew again.

It moved the leaves.

Sway… sway…

Milo felt a little better.

Milo looked up.

A juicy mango hung high on a thin branch.

“Oh!” he said.

“I want that mango.”

He stretched his arm.

Up… up…

But it was too far.

“I can’t reach it,” Milo said softly.

The Wind whispered through the leaves.

Shhh… shhh…

The branch moved gently.

Sway… sway…

The mango came closer.

A little more…

and a little more…

Plop!

Right into Milo’s hands.

“Oh!” Milo laughed.

“Thank you, Wind!”

He took a bite.

Juicy… sweet…

“Mmm… so yummy!”

After eating, Milo felt full.

And very calm.

His eyes felt heavy.

“I think I need a nap,” he said.

But the jungle was noisy.

Parrots were talking—

squawk… squawk…

Bugs were buzzing—

zzz… zzz…

Milo turned this way and that.

“I can’t sleep,” he said.

The Kind Wind saw Milo.

It blew softly through the trees.

Then it passed through some hollow bamboo.

Hoo… whee… hoo…

A gentle, sleepy sound filled the air.

Like a soft song.

The Wind moved Milo’s branch.

Back… and forth…

Back… and forth…

Like a cradle.

Milo smiled.

“That sounds nice,” he whispered.

Milo closed his eyes.

The breeze touched his face.

Soft… cool… gentle…

The sounds grew quiet.

Milo felt calm.

He felt safe.

He felt happy.

Slowly… slowly…

Milo fell asleep.
