One evening, little Ellie walked with Mama in the garden.

The sky above was soft and blue.

Ellie looked up.

“Mama,” she asked,

Why is the sky blue?”

Mama smiled.

“Because sunlight dances in the sky,” she said gently.

“The blue light spreads everywhere above us.”

Ellie looked up again.

“So the sky is full of dancing light?”

Mama laughed softly.

“Yes, it is.”

They walked a little farther.

A butterfly fluttered past.

Flap… flap…

“Why do butterflies flap their wings?” Ellie asked.

“So they can float gently from flower to flower,” Mama said.

The butterfly landed on a flower.

Ellie smiled.

“It looks like flying petals.”

Soon they heard water nearby.

Shhhhhh…

A river flowed slowly beside the path.

“Where does the river go?” Ellie asked.

“The river keeps traveling,” Mama said.

“It moves through forests and fields until it reaches the big ocean.”

Ellie’s eyes grew wide.

“A long water journey?”

Mama nodded.

“Yes.”

The sun slowly began to set.

The moon appeared softly in the sky.

Ellie pointed up.

“Mama, where does the moon go in the daytime?”

Mama held Ellie’s hand.

“The moon is still there,” she said gently.

“But the bright sunlight makes it harder to see.”

Ellie looked carefully.

“So the moon stays with us?”

“It does,” Mama smiled.

As they walked home, Ellie saw her shadow moving beside her.

“Mama… why does my shadow follow me?”

Mama giggled softly.

“Because the light follows you, and your shadow comes along too.”

Ellie stretched her arms.

Her shadow stretched too.

“Hee hee! It copies me!”

At last, they sat together under the evening sky.

“Mama?” Ellie whispered sleepily.

“Yes, my little one?”

“There are so many things to know.”

Mama kissed her forehead gently.

“And every day,” she said softly,

“You will discover something new and wonderful.”

Ellie leaned close to Mama.

The stars twinkled above them.

And the world felt full of magic.
