How to Draw a Baby Step-by-step – Cute Character Drawing for Kids

This baby drawing lesson turns one of the trickiest subjects into something surprisingly gentle to sketch. The step-by-step visuals guide learners through soft facial shapes, rounded proportions, and simple features in a way that feels calm and easy to follow. Each stage builds gradually, so beginners can focus on understanding structure without feeling overwhelmed by detail. With clear illustrated steps and a printable PDF worksheet included, it becomes a relaxed practice session you can repeat, pause, and refine. A thoughtful, beginner-friendly exercise that helps capture the softness of a baby in a simple, approachable style.

Round cheeks and tiny features make this baby drawing a delightful project for young artists to try.

Step 1: Draw a small hair curl that's curled above your hairline.

Step 2: Draw an elongated, curly line from the beginning, with the infant's face on the left.

Step 3: Draw a second curving line to the right side of the head to make the reverse side.

Step 4: Complete this circular design by drawing the child's lower face.

Step 5: Attach two tiny ears on each side of the head.

Step 6: Draw a cute smile using an open mouth.

Step 7: Draw an angled neckline just a little lower than your jawline.

Step 8: Draw two curving shoulder lines, just below the head.

Step 9: Add short sleeves to both sides.

Step 10: Be sure you draw the upper arms' curve lines in the same way as depicted in the illustration.

Step 11: Begin to draw your arms away from the sleeves.

Step 12: Pull the opposite arm down from the other sleeves.

Step 13: Add one small hand with the fingers pointing downward.

Step 14: Draw the second arm and continue to draw it downwards.

Step 15: Join another palm using tiny fingers.

Step 16: Draw an arched line between the arms to create a baby's belly.

Step 17: Draw a bent leg over the other side of the body.

Step 18: Add the baby's feet with their tiny toes.

Step 19: Draw a bent leg on the opposite side.

Step 20: Place on the other foot, using tiny toes.

Step 21: Draw small lines of detail on the feet and fingers.

Step 22: Draw two eyes and a tiny eyebrow on the face of the baby.
