Curvy lines and cool patterns come together as kids follow simple picture steps to sketch a slithering snake.
Step 1: Draw two curved lines to create the snake's tongue.

Step 2: Create a long, curved line to the top of the tongue. This step will outline the head and mouth.

Step 3: Make a mark on the forehead. Next, draw a long line that extends down to form the neck and then curves back.

Step 4: Create a curving line below the head to create a shape for your lower jaw as well as the throat.

Step 5: Draw a long line that runs down from the throat, extending to the front of your body.

Step 6: Make a long, curved loop to the left to begin the coiled body.

Step 7: Draw a wider curving line to the left of your body to create the next coil for your body.

Step 8: Expand the body downwards and round it with a curving, wavy line. Include a few curving guide lines along the neck and the body.

Step 9: Complete the lower body's coil by using another long line of curved lines.

Step 10: Draw small scales over the top of your head and then add a nostril and other facial features.

Step 11: Incorporate large, curved belly scales into the front of your chest and neck.

Step 12: Create more small scales on the sides of the neck as well as on the upper body.

Step 13: Include scales along the middle coil of your body.

Step 14: Continue drawing scales over the lower coils of the body.

Step 15: Complete the scales on the tail and on the other side of the body.

Step 16: Draw a big round eye.

Step 17: The second eye is added to the details inside both eyes.

Step 18: Darken the eyeballs and then finish the drawing. Color it using your favourite crayons or sketches!

How to draw a snake- an easy and fun way to draw a snake!
The snake slides through the sand or grass, and it's mesmerising to watch. Their bodies are elongated and flexible, allowing them to contour and adapt to any environment they inhabit. This is why so many children enjoy drawing snakes: it is one of the easier animal drawings.
At MonkeyPen Books, we offer drawing activities to help children use their imaginations and be creative. MonkeyPen Books is for children of any drawing level. This includes children who are just starting to draw, as well as those who are more experienced and love drawing.
Why Are Children Able to Draw Snakes as One of the Easier Animal Drawings?
Snakes are one of the easier animals for young children to draw. This is because snakes have fewer body parts than other animals. Animals like dogs have many different body parts, such as legs, arms, wings, and fur or feathers. But snakes do not have any of this. Snakes are long and flexible, and their bodies are just as simple as the children's drawing, as they only need to draw a few curved lines.
Did you know that there are over 3,000 species of snakes worldwide? Some of those are so small they can fit in your hand, and others are so big that they are even longer than the length of a bus!
Why is snake drawing so fun?
They come in a wide variety of colors and can have different stripe, diamond, and spotted patterns. For this reason, drawing snakes is a great opportunity for children to experiment with different colours and patterns.
There are also plenty of choices when it comes to how to design the head of the snake. For instance, a child can decide to give the snake big cartoonish eyes, a big, funny smile, or a look of curiosity. Adding this type of detail can make a big difference in the drawing's overall look and how others perceive it.
Can Kids Draw Different Types of Snakes?
Of course! Kids can draw many styles of snakes once they've learnt how to draw one.
Some kids may want to draw a silly cartoon snake with bright colours and silly eyes. Other kids may want to draw a snake in a realistic style, adding details like scales and patterns.
Some kids may want to draw snakes in a more creative style inspired by stories, jungles, or fantasy. A snake might be a jungle adventurer, a magical guardian, or even a friendly snake from a story.
The best part about drawing is that kids have lots of possibilities and can use their imagination.
Where Can Kids Find Help?
Monkey Pen offers an amazing snake drawing guide for kids. Kids can follow along with the steps without getting stuck, and they can control their pace to make sure they can add everything they want.
Kids find that an easy-to-draw snake can be even more fun than they thought once they add their creative touches, and drawing together can even be a fun family activity.
Why Is Drawing Good for Kids?
Drawing helps kids learn how to be inventive, concentrate, and feel positive about themselves. When kids learn to draw a snake, they understand how great pictures can be made from basic shapes.
Drawing teaches kids to express their individuality. One kid might make a colourful cartoon snake, and another might make a detailed drawing of a snake in a jungle.
