CARLA CARROTS AND THE MISSING RABBIT | Free Children Book
Nov 27, 2025
Carla loved carrots so much that everyone called her “Carla Carrots.” Some kids teased her, but she didn’t let it bother her—especially when her favourite snack turned out to be the key to saving the day! When the class rabbit goes missing, only Carla’s carrot trail (and her super night vision) can bring him home. This free illustrated kids’ book is a cheerful tale about staying true to yourself and proving that what makes you different makes you special.

It was a bright, sunny day, and Carla was skipping school.
Her teacher, Mrs. Rose, said that everyone had been so well-behaved that they could bring their favourite snacks to share with everyone.

When Carla sat down, she opened up her bag and put her tub on the table.
But everyone already knew what Carla had brought. There was only one thing that Carla liked.

CARROTS!
In fact, Carla liked carrots so much that her classmates called her Carla Carrots.

Most of them were her friends, but there were some kids that weren’t so friendly. They made fun of her orange dress, laughed at her pink hairband, and said the same thing whenever they saw her.
“Carrots aren’t cool, Carla Carrot!”

Carla didn’t mind, though. She loved carrots, and nothing was going to change that. She loved the taste, she loved the colour, and she loved that they helped her see in the dark.
She opened her box and bit down on a carrot with a CRUNCH.

When Jimmy heard the noise, he pointed at Carla and said,
“Carrots aren’t cool, Carla Carrot!”
He laughed at her, and his friends all laughed too.
Carla started to feel embarrassed.

“Excuse me, class!” said Mrs. Rose, sounding serious. “We have an emergency!”
Everyone looked over to see her standing by an empty hutch.
“Mr. Nibbles is missing!”

Mr. Nibbles was the class rabbit, and everyone loved him. All the students took turns feeding and taking care of him.
But where could he have gone?

Just then, Carla had a great idea.
She had a whole tub full of Mr. Nibbles’ favourite food.
Carrots!
If she laid out a trail to the hutch, then maybe he would follow it back home!

The class followed Mrs. Rose around the hallways, looking for any sign of Mr. Nibbles.
Carla left a trail of carrot sticks behind her, just in case he found them before they found him.

They walked all around the school, looking for little bunny footprints, until they reached the storeroom.
“Oh no!” said Mrs. Rose. “It’s so dark in there. How are we going to see anything?”

Carla’s eyes lit up!
“I’ve eaten so many carrots,” she said. “I’ll be able to see in the dark!”
She stepped inside, and even though Jimmy and his friends couldn’t see a thing, Carla could see everything clearly.
And there he was!

“Mr. Nibbles!” she said as he jumped into her arms. “Were you looking for your rabbit food? Don’t worry, I have plenty for you!”
When Carla came out with Mr. Nibbles in her arms, the whole class clapped and cheered.

When Carla was packing her bag at the end of the day, she was just about to leave when someone tapped her on the shoulder.
It was Jimmy!
“Hey, Carla… I was just wondering, do you have any carrots left?”
“Sure, Jimmy! I have enough for everyone!”

“That’s good,” he said, stepping to the side. Behind him, Carla saw all of his friends lined up, waiting to ask the same thing.
“Because now we think carrots are pretty cool, Carla Carrot!”
