I'm Freddy Fish, and I’m going to tell you how you can have a pet fish.

We are great to look at and are really quiet.

With a little food, you can even train us tricks.

Like eating from your fingers.

Or follow your finger around our home.

Remember, the best way is to start simple.

A 1 or 2 gallon Fish Bowl for pretty goldfish or a Mason jar for those little Guppies.

Oh! Don't worry about us getting too big for our home; we won't. We only grow to the size our home allows.

Okay, before you get one of my cousins for your pet, make sure their home is set up.

Wash, rinse, and dry their home and anything that is going inside.

Except them!

Put enough water to fill the bowl in a bucket and let it adjust for a day or so.

This lets any chemicals that could hurt us leave the water.

Put some pretty gravel on the bottom.

If you can get real aquarium plants, now is the time to plant them. Just rinse it off before planting it in the gravel.

Plastic plants work well too.

We like things to swim around, so a rock or castle would make us happy.

Better yet, do both.

Now it's time to add the water to your bowl.

Do it slowly and carefully so you don't disturb all your work.

Well, just one thing left.

It's time to go get my cousins for your new pets.

You will bring them home in a plastic bag filled with water.

Float the bag in your fish bowl for an hour or so.

Remove the bag, open it, and net my cousins out to put them in their new home.

Don't put the water from the bag into your bowl, as it may be dirty.

Feed them just a little fish food. If they eat it all, feed them a little more.

Too much food can make the water dirty, and they could get sick.

Enjoy them every day.
