One sunny day, a little bird flew over a pond.

Flap… flap… flap…

She sang a happy song.

“Chirp… chirp… what a lovely day!”

Below, a little fish swam in the water.

Swish… swish… swish…

He blew tiny bubbles.

Pop… pop… pop…

The bird looked down.

“Oh! Hello!” she chirped.

“Hello!” said the fish.

The bird flew in circles.

“Come fly with me!” she said.

The fish giggled.

Swish… swish…

“I can’t fly,” he said.

The bird tilted her head.

“Why not?” she asked.

“I don’t have wings,” said the fish.

The bird laughed a little.

“Oh! That’s funny!”

The fish smiled softly.

“That’s okay,” he said.

“I can swim!”

Swish… swish…

The fish twirled in the water.

Round… round…

The bird watched.

“Oh! That looks fun!” she said.

She came down closer.

“I want to try!”

The bird dipped her feet.

Splash!

“Cold!” she giggled.

She leaned a little more…

Oops!

Splash!

The bird fell into the pond!

Flap! Flap!

“Oh no! I can’t swim!” she cried.

The fish swam quickly.

Swish… swish…

“Don’t worry,” he said gently.

“Move slowly.”

The bird tried.

Flap… slow… flap…

The fish stayed beside her.

“Slow… slow…” he said.

The bird calmed down.

She moved gently.

Splash… splash…

Soon, she reached the edge.

“Oh!” she chirped.

“I’m safe!”

She shook her feathers.

Fluff! Fluff!

The bird looked at the fish.

“I’m sorry,” she said softly.

“You can’t fly… and I can’t swim.”

The fish smiled.

“Yes,” he said, we are different.”

“But we can still play!”

The bird smiled wide.

“I like you just the way you are!” she chirped.

The fish laughed.

“And I like you too!”

The bird flew above…

Flap… flap…

The fish swam below…

Swish… swish…

Up and down… together in their own way.

Moral: True friends accept each other just the way they are.
